Wendy emailed to say that she looked up the weather forecast for Delhi and it said "29 degrees and dust". What does that mean? she asked. Well "dust pretty much sums it up. Red dust hangs in the air and pretty much covers anything that stands still for a moment. I don't know about the 29 degrees though. That doesnt sound right.

This brings back some memories from my 2005 visit to India. There are definitely a lot of dust and dirt particles in the air in more urban areas. I remember having to take multiple showers as well--I was there is August! The heat really ramps up and personally I think 29 in India is perceived as a nice cool day (LOL). It sounds like you're getting a truly authentic experience with those bucket showers. I think the best way to enjoy your time is to really connect with the people, taste the food, and go sightseeing often. You need to distract yourself from the heat, otherwise lethargy and exhaust will kick in.
Good luck to both of you! Nice to see your documenting your time there, keep us posted.
